Francesco Maria Niccolò Gabburri, who wrote a Vite of the artists alive during his time as well as earlier ones taken from sources such as Baldinucci, also records a nephew of Westerhout, Vincenzio Franceschini, who trained with him in etching and engraving and lived and worked in Florence, where he etched, among other things, the famous city views of Giuseppe Zocchi.Īrnold van Westerhout had settled in Rome in 168i, and up to 1683 lived inįrom the Vite of Francesco Maria Niccolò Gabburri: From 1685-86 the printer Jacques Blondeau lived with Westerhout, and he was in Florence from 1691-92. By 1679 he was in Venice, transferring to Rome in 1681 where he is recorded as living in the house of Cornelis Bloemaert. Little seems to be known about this prolific and talented etcher other than that he trained in Antwerp with Alexander Gouters, joining the artist's guild of St. Van Westerhout, Arnold (1651-1725) Variant Names
